Bedouin village, Hurghada

Typical visit: 1 h

The Bedouin settlement the desert tours stop at: sweet tea in the shade, a short camel ride, and time to look around before the drive back.

About

A working Bedouin settlement out in the Eastern Desert, about 25 kilometres inland from the coast, where the desert tours stop. You are welcomed in, shown how the families live and what the traditions mean, and given Bedouin tea in the shade — strong, sweet, usually flavoured with habak, a desert mint.

There is time for a short camel ride around the settlement and to look around before the ride back. On the evening tours the same camp is where dinner is grilled and where the stargazing happens once the fires burn down.
