The February alignment marks the anniversary of Ramses II's coronation. The sun travels the length of the sanctuary and falls on three of the four seated gods; the fourth stays dark, as it was built to. Pre-dawn transfer from Aswan and entry included.

Luxor sits almost exactly on the centre line: 6 minutes 22 seconds of totality over the temples of Thebes — the longest total eclipse over easily accessible land this century, with nothing longer until 2114. It falls in the middle of the day, between 13:02 and 13:08. August skies here are clear about four days in five. Viewing is from Karnak Temple; we handle the ticket, a guide and the private car that waits for you all day.
