Rothenburg ob der Tauber is one of the best-preserved walled towns in Germany. Its old town sits on a ridge above the Tauber valley, ringed by walls, towers and gates. Inside, the market square with the Town Hall and the old councillors' tavern, the Ratstrinkstube, St. Jakob's Church and St. George's Fountain lie only a few minutes' walk apart, which makes the town easy to explore on foot.
Our Helios guides offer two private walks here, both in English or German. The old town walk takes up to six guests through the main sights in about an hour and a quarter. The evening walk, for up to 20 guests, leads you through the quiet streets after dark and tells the stories of the medieval night watch. For both, your guide can pick you up from your hotel inside the walls. If you are staying in Munich, our coach day trip follows the Romantic Road to Harburg Castle and gives you about two hours of free time in Rothenburg; that trip starts and ends in Munich.
The streets inside the walls are cobbled, so wear comfortable shoes. Rothenburg is busiest during the day, and an evening walk shows a calmer side of the town. Prices on this page are estimates; the final price, meeting point and time are confirmed with your booking.
Hand-picked experiences our guests love, chosen by Helios for your time in Germany.
