Our most recommended things to do in Pattaya

Pattaya sits on the Gulf of Thailand, south-east of Bangkok, and much of what you do here happens on the water. A crewed catamaran takes you to Koh Phai, Koh Rin and Monkey Island for snorkeling, fishing and a Thai buffet lunch. A shorter speedboat trip runs from Pattaya Beach to Koh Sak and Koh Larn, known as Coral Island, and a snorkeling trip leaves from Sattahip, south of the city, for Nemo Island.

On land, you can spend half a day at an elephant sanctuary about 40 minutes from the city, where the elephants are not ridden and do not perform in shows; you feed them, join them in the mud bath and help bathe them. A private tour links the Sanctuary of Truth, the golden Buddha on the cliff at Khao Chi Chan, the Pattaya Floating Market and Nong Nooch Tropical Garden.

Every trip on this page includes pickup from hotels in Pattaya City, and Helios guides lead them in English. On the speedboat trip lunch is not included, so bring Thai baht in cash to buy it on Koh Larn. Pack swimwear, sunscreen and a change of clothes for the boat trips and the sanctuary. All prices shown are estimates and are confirmed when you book.
