Our most recommended things to do in Manila

Manila is the capital of the Philippines and the place where the country's history is easiest to read. Inside Intramuros, the walled city built under Spanish rule, you find Fort Santiago, Manila Cathedral and San Agustin Church, the oldest stone church in the country. Across the Pasig River, Binondo has been the city's Chinese quarter since 1594, and its streets are among the best places to try Filipino street food, from kwek-kwek and siomai to halo-halo.

South of the city, a half or full day takes you up to Tagaytay, a cooler ridge above Taal Lake. From viewpoints such as Tagaytay Point and Picnic Grove you look across the water to Taal Volcano on its island. The island itself has been closed to visitors since the 2020 eruption, so tours view the volcano from the ridge or from a boat on the lake; nobody lands or climbs to the crater.

Our own local guides lead every tour in English. The Tagaytay trips and the private Intramuros tour include pickup in Metro Manila, while the Old Manila walk and the street food walk start at a meeting point. Allow for heat, traffic and plenty of walking, and cover shoulders and knees for the churches. Prices are estimates and are confirmed with your booking.
