Our most recommended things to do in Krabi

Krabi lies on the Andaman Sea in southern Thailand, where limestone cliffs rise straight out of the water and dozens of islands sit just off the coast. Most visitors stay in Ao Nang, and from there the classic trips are a short boat ride away: the four islands with Chicken Island and the Thale Waek sandbar, the Hong Islands and their lagoon in Phang Nga Bay, and, further out, the Phi Phi Islands with Maya Bay.

You can travel by longtail boat, the traditional wooden boat of this coast, or by speedboat for the longer runs to Phi Phi. An evening trip to seven islands ends with dinner on the beach at sunset and a swim among glowing plankton, and a private longtail lets a group of up to four set its own pace. Inland, a day trip takes you through the forest to the Emerald Pool, into the Krabi hot springs and to the Tiger Cave Temple.

Practical notes: the islands lie in national parks, and the park fees are paid separately on the day: 200 baht for adults on the 4 islands, 300 baht for the Hong Islands and 400 baht for Phi Phi. Hotel pickup is included in the areas named on each tour page. Our own local guides run every tour, in English. Prices shown are estimates and are confirmed when you book.
