Cairo Day Trip from Hurghada: By Plane or by Road?
Four ways to see the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum in one day, and how to pick yours

Cairo is about 460 km from Hurghada — roughly five hours each way by road. Every Cairo day trip shows you the same icons: the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, and the Grand Egyptian Museum. The real choice is how you spend the hours of travel, and that comes down to two questions.
1. Fly or drive?
By road is the affordable option and needs a very early start, usually before dawn, with the drive both ways. The shared bus is the classic version, with a lunch of local dishes. The private car covers the same sights with your own driver and guide, no group and no waiting for others.
By plane costs more but gives you the day back: the flight is about an hour, so you have more time at the sights and come back far less tired. The standard flying trip covers the Pyramids, the Sphinx and the Valley Temple, lunch and the Grand Egyptian Museum. The late risers version starts with a 06:00 pickup instead of a 3 AM one and adds lunch by the Nile and time in Khan el-Khalili.
2. How do you want to travel?
With children, on a short holiday, or if long drives tire you, flying is worth it. On a budget, or happy to sleep in the bus, the road trip shows you the same places for much less. If you want your own pace and guide, choose a private option either way.
Good to know
Bring your passport for the flights, comfortable shoes for the Giza plateau and sun protection. The Grand Egyptian Museum is big: your guide will take you to the highlights, including Tutankhamun's treasures. If you have two days, Cairo with a night there is calmer than any day trip — ask us.
