Best Time to Visit Dubai: Weather, Sea and Seasons Month by Month
Cool season, shoulder months and summer, with honest weather numbers, Ramadan and the best time for the desert
Dubai is open all year in the sense that the airport, the hotels and the malls never close. Whether it is pleasant is a different question. Between a January afternoon and an August afternoon the difference is close to twenty degrees, and that gap decides what a day there actually looks like: a slow walk along the Creek, or a quick dash from an air-conditioned car into an air-conditioned building. This guide goes through the year season by season, with long-term weather averages, the sea temperature, what is worth doing in each period, how Ramadan shifts from one year to the next and when the desert is at its best.
The short answer
For most travellers the best time to visit Dubai is from November to March. Days are warm rather than hot, evenings are comfortable outdoors and the desert is at its most pleasant. October and April are good compromises if you can live with hot middays. May to September is the hot season: still perfectly possible, but you plan your day around the heat rather than the other way round.
That is the general picture. Which month is right for you depends on what you want to do, how well you cope with heat and whether your dates fall in Ramadan, so the details follow below.
Dubai weather by month
The figures below are rounded long-term averages (1991 to 2020) measured at Dubai International Airport. They are averages, not forecasts: individual days can be several degrees warmer or cooler, and the coast often feels hotter than the number suggests because of humidity.
- January: about 24 °C by day, 15 °C at night
- February: about 26 °C by day, 16 °C at night
- March: about 29 °C by day, 19 °C at night
- April: about 34 °C by day, 22 °C at night
- May: about 38 °C by day, 26 °C at night
- June: about 40 °C by day, 28 °C at night
- July: about 41 to 42 °C by day, 31 °C at night
- August: about 42 °C by day, 31 °C at night
- September: about 39 to 40 °C by day, 29 °C at night
- October: about 36 °C by day, 25 °C at night
- November: about 31 °C by day, 21 °C at night
- December: about 26 °C by day, 17 °C at night
Rain is rare. Dubai sees only a few weeks of rain spread across the whole year, mostly between November and March, and February tends to be the wettest month. When a heavy shower does come, roads can flood quickly because the city is not built for much water, so a rainy day is usually a day for museums and malls rather than for the dunes.
Cool season: November to March
This is the season most visitors aim for, and for good reason. Daytime temperatures in the mid-twenties to around thirty mean you can walk the old quarter around Al Fahidi and the Creek, sit outside in the evening and spend an afternoon on the beach without counting the minutes. Nights in December, January and February can feel properly cool, especially in the desert, where it drops faster than in the city.
It is also the season when Dubai's outdoor calendar fills up. Seasonal attractions that close for the summer reopen in autumn: Global Village, the large open-air cultural park, opens its 31st season on 14 October 2026 and runs into May 2027 according to the organisers. Outdoor markets, festivals and events cluster in these months too. Exact dates change every year, so check the official event sites before you plan a day around one.
Who it does not suit: travellers looking for a quiet, empty city. This is high season, so popular viewpoints, beaches and attractions are busier, and hotels fill up around Christmas, New Year and the school holidays of many countries. If you travel then, book desert trips and anything with limited places early.
