Bamberg's old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and most of it is best seen on foot. The Domberg, the hill of the bishops, rises above the Regnitz with the cathedral at its top. Below it, the Old Town Hall stands in the middle of the river, and the old fishermen's houses of Little Venice line the bank. Half-timbered lanes link it all together, so a two-hour walk covers a great deal.
Our Helios guides lead every tour here in English or German. You can take the classic old town walk, join a walk on Bamberg's long brewing history or a food walk with local snacks and beer, follow the story of the witch trials of the 1620s, or try a playful medieval walk in which you take part yourself. If you are travelling as a family, a group of friends or a company, a private walk gives you a guide of your own for up to 25 people at one price.
The old town is compact, but the way up to the Domberg is steep in places and the streets are cobbled, so comfortable shoes help. Tours that include beer have age limits, which are shown on each tour. Prices on this page are estimates; the final price, meeting point and start time are confirmed with your booking.
Hand-picked experiences our guests love, chosen by Helios for your time in Germany.
